Research Program Summary

My research focuses on the fire and vegetation ecology of oak forests.  Within that framework, I am particularly interested in: 1) prescribed fire as a tool to improve oak regeneration and thus sustainability, 2) fire effects on herbaceous layer vegetation, including species composition and diversity, invasive species, and threatened and endangered species, and 3) the history of fire in southern Ohio and its effects on forest composition.
